At the very heart of Delta College's mission must be student success. Getting students in the door is only half the battle. The real work is removing unnecessary barriers and providing clear pathways so students can reach the finish line.

From the interview
Dr. Shah in His Own Words
Why are you the best candidate for the seat?
I have more than 25 years of experience in public education, much of it as a school-site and district administrator. My experience in educational leadership, along with my personal connection to Delta College and the region it serves, has prepared me to take on the responsibilities of a trustee.
What should Delta College's top priority be?
At the very heart of Delta College's mission must be student success. By streamlining registration and transfer processes, strengthening proactive advising, and building partnerships with local employers, the Board of Trustees can help ensure that students have the opportunity and support they need to turn their educational goals into real-world achievement.
What is the most important thing you want voters to know?
Delta College is much more than a stepping-stone to a four-year university — it can change the trajectory of a person's life. I know that personally. I was born and raised in Lodi, attended Lodi public schools, and grew up in poverty while facing significant barriers to learning. Delta gave me an opportunity to begin a higher-education journey that eventually led to a doctorate and a career of more than 25 years in public education.
